Evaluating the toxicity of a compound

The study of the toxicity of new potential drugs is one of the key aspects in the development of new drug candidate. There are multiple assays and angles that can be used to evaluate the toxicity of a compound.

One of the available options is to apply omics technologies strategies to elucidate if there is a change in the lipid or metabolite profile that can be associated a compound toxicity. For example, one can use a lipidomic approach to study a set of compounds to find out if there is a specific lipid profile that is associated to hepatotoxicity.

The experiment is analyzed by using Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, followed by statistical analysis that can be all done in our software.  In addition, Mass spectrometry can be used to study the process of Drug-induced phospholipidosis, that may be a cause also of toxicity in biological matrixes.
